Damian Priour 1949-2011

by admin on September 15, 2011

It was just a short year ago that he and his wife Paula opened their hilltop home to us, his fellow sculptors and friends of the Texas Sculpture Group. He was jovial and generous, as always.

Damian was a seventh generation Texan, born in Corpus Christi, Texas. He made his sculpture from the limestone of Texas, washed by prehistoric waters. He was recognized in 2008 as an Official Texas State Artist and his work is held in many collections across the country, including Texas Sculpture Park and the Corning Museum of Glass. His enthusiasm for the arts was clear in the tireless hours he volunteered and donated his works on behalf of the Arts. He began the ‘Chair Project’ , which called on over 80 artists to create chairs no bigger than 8 x 8 x 8 inches.

Fair sailing, Damian.  You will be missed by many here in this sweet old world.

Thank you for all your beauty you have left behind.
