Once again, Texas Sculpture Group members are featured in Abilene’s 35th Biennial Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, as well as indoor gallery exhibitions related to SCULPTOUR, a city-wide celebration of sculpture. Experience Abilene’s generous hospitality and long-term love affair with sculpture August 21-22 with a weekend of sculpture-related exhibitions and events!
TSG Members Danville Chadbourne, Dewane Hughes, Meredith Jack, and Michelle O’Michael have been selected to present large-scale outdoor works in the public green space along the T&P Railroad line in downtown Abilene, on view for the next two years. Other TSG members will be featured in gallery exhibitions at university, museum, and art center galleries throughout town.
On Friday, receptions honor  Julia Ousley for her exhibition at McMurry University’s Amy Graves Ryan Gallery, Steve Brudniak at Hardin-Simmons University’s Ira M Taylor Memorial Art Gallery, and Margaret Smithers-Crump at the Grace Museum. On Saturday morning, Roberta Masciarelli will give a gallery talk in conjunction with her exhibition at Abilene Christian University’s Shore Art Gallery, followed that evening by a reception for Elizabeth Akamatsu’s work at The Center for Contemporary Arts and the official opening of the Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, among other events.
Congratulations to our featured TSG members, and many thanks to the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council and all the art venues in Abilene for helping TSG further its mission to promote contemporary sculpture as an art form, educate the public regarding the aesthetics of sculpture, and for promoting and supporting Texas sculptors.
We hope to see you in Abilene!
